just like a typica parent to say their child is kind, gentle and compasionate when his son was drag racing with someone in the passenger seat. Now, to me, thats not being Kind, Gentle or Compasionate.

Which is why I laughed. Parents always want to believe the best from their crotch fruit though really, pretty sure I've heard the parents of a serial killer utter the same thing.

In this country you CAN'T sue parents for something their kid has done unless they're supposed to be supervising the kid at the time. So if Hogan was in the car with him as the supervisor then they could sue but not if the kid was out on his own.
Isn't that the same in America?

With Nick Being only 17, he's not recognized as an adult over here, so Yea they could sue his parents. Now if he was 18, if the care was Registered to one of his parents then the family could sue Both Nick and his parents.

He's not recognised as being an adult over here either but the courts have always taken the view that parents can't be liable for any civil wrong committed by their kids at any age unless it was down to lack of supervision (as parents have a positive duty to ensure they don't mess things up) So if a parent takes her toddler out and is yattering to her friends and not paying attention and the toddler wanders out into the street, causing a car to swerve and have a crash, the parent would be liable. But if the toddler does it whilst he's at a friends house, or at pre-school or whatever then you couldn't sue his parents just because they're his parents (though you could sue the teacher in charge for not doing her job.) When a parent's 17 year old kid goes out and drives like a moron and injures someone then all the blame goes to the kid. You can't expect a parent to follow their kid around everywhere when they're 17 I dunno. No disrespect to America but I think we've got our litigation obsession in far better control.

But here, 17 is considered a Minor...and Minors are still in there parents control, or supposed to be. But with Rich families, 17 year olds run wild(pun intended lol) but the fact that they are not legally adults leaves the blame and the fault to be placed on someone, and unfortunately it's the parents.
Now, the money has to come from somewhere, Nick doesn't have a job, so his parents should at least offer to pay some of the bills, after all some, if not most, of that other family's money went to paying Hogan's Salary lol....ie buying merchandise, tickets etc.
Jon, you're right, you can't follow a 17 year old around all day, but you are expected to have trained your 17 year old on how to act, and if you haven't then the fault is purley the parents, so someone must be taught a lesson, and in most cases it's both the parent and the child.

Rico, where do you come from? lol...You can't always blame the parents as you can bring up kids the best way you know how, teach them right from wrong and the rest is down to the individual. If someone is going to be a cunt, they will do so no matter what their upbringing. Unless the parents are pretty much the same, I don't see why a parent should be held responsible when someone is 17 and knows EXACTLY what they're doing and whether it is wrong or not...If you're old enough for a licence, you're old enough to suffer any consequence of what happens when you're behind that wheel.

Ish, What are you talking about...I'm just telling Jon what the law is over here and whose responsible for footing bills when a minor causes the injury or damage. I know that Nick was the one who was driving and with him being 17 the parents of the boys family can sue the Bollea's and not Nick....thats how it is over here....In most cases it's wrong, but no one is changing it
But, Nick is not getting off Scott Free, he's serving 8 months in jail, though I'd give him more than that, but the Color of justice is Green (money), no matter where you are.

Is it just me or are people going on the assumption that Hogan knows how to raise a kid? He did spend most of their lives going to different countries and making millions by doing 5 moves. Better him getting some of the blame than his (soon to be) ex wife, who I'm sure has done most of the work
