According to a number of sources, Kurt Angle is rumored to be surprisingly returning to action with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
Dave Hawk, Angle's manager, has apparently contacted media outlets in recent days, informing that Angle is slated to make his MMA debut in 2007. Angle also recently revealed his desire to work in MMA when interviewed with magazine Real Fighter.
One name being touted as a possible opponent for Kurt Angle is former WWE Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder, who has been making comments about fighting Angle in UFC next year. Whether this is legitimate or just a stunt to increase interest is unknown. The name of Brock Lesnar is also being thrown around as a possible opponent for Angle. The pair are no strangers to each other after having a memorable feud in WWE, which included them headlining WrestleMania in Seattle, Washington.
If Angle were to appear in MMA, it would raise the profile with the curiosity factor, which could in turn lead to higher interest levels, ratings, and PPV buyrates. His signing could also pull in the crossover fans, and even new ones.
Angle's injuries remain an issue and whether he could compete in MMA with them remains to be seen. One thing that is for certain, since his departure from World Wrestling Entertainment, Angle has become one of the most-wanted commodities in the wrestling industry.
-------------------------------
The following is from Kurt Angle's camp:
Dear Angle Friends and Fans:
Kurt "The Machine" Angle wants to truly thank everyone for their concerns and best regards to his recovery and wellness. Kurt continues to read your kind messages and he feels truly blessed to have your support, as your well wishes continue to strengthen him mentally and physically. He also apologizes as he would love to reply to you everyone but unfortunately due to timing with his family, his rehabilitation, training, and business leaves very little time to converse.
Kurt wants me to update you, he's happy to express his physical condition is fastly rebounding. When Kurt left WWE, he was beaten and battered down at a mirror 220. Over the past many weeks with the right rest, a wonderful wife who is preparing the ideal diet, daily physical therapy, and back to good strength training we are happy to report he's up to a solid 240 with about 85% full flexibility....
As you may have seen or heard the latest news, Kurt Angle is a huge fan of all MMA programs (K1, UFC, PRIDE, WEC, and IFL to name a few) this former Olympic Gold Medalist and Extreme Athlete has the heart and the deep driven passion to show he's the best of the best. Angle has his sight on a full physical recovery and plans a day to put it all on the line....Real Fighter will have the exclusive....

WWE posted the following today on their website: "WWE has come to terms on the release of Boogeyman (Marty Wright) as of today 9/20/06. We wish Marty the best in all future endeavors."
Wright had been out rehabbing leg injuries and was close to being ready to return to action when he was released. Management hadn't been happy with his commitment to return to action with the feeling being that he was doing the bare minimum to get back in shape. There were also issues with him not checking in with the doctors when he was supposed to. He was warned a few times and when he didn't change his behavior, he was let go.
Wright, originally an actor, came onto the WWE scene in October of 2004 when he was kicked out of the tryouts for Tough Enough IV for lying about his age. However, he was given a slot in OVW two months later, where the "Boogeyman" character was developed in the summer of 2005. He was put on the Smackdown brand live events, but suffered a knee injury and went back to OVW. It was during this time that he had his front teeth knocked out, which would become part of his look. He finally made his Smackdown TV debut in October of 2005 and feuded with JBL and Booker T. Shortly after Wrestlemania 22, where he defeated Booker T & Sharmell in a handicap match, Boogeyman was back on the injured list. A vignette was shown on Smackdown last month hyping his return, which obviously won't be taking place now.

I've seen a few threads before about the possibilities with Angle being in MMA but lol that would be silly as the first thing anyone could do is go straight for his weak neck...it's pointless

For me if Angle is to return to wrestling it should eb TNA or ROH, now i know i maybe one of the marks who is going over the top expecting Angle there, but if youi think about it the guy cannot handle a ECW work load, so what makes you think a few months of rest he can handle a WWE work load he can't he's done in that area, he'd have to do similar to Taker and do a few appearances every so often.
But if he went to TNA or ROH, eso TNA has 3 nights work a month and that is if theres two nights for tapings because i'm never sure if it's one or two, and of course one for the ppv and one day for fanfest that leaves a fair way for recovery and he could handle that. As ECW is more heavily packed than that of TNA or ROH.
But still MMA is a horrid idea, as he will get hurt because it isn't like wrestlign were it's timing and none contaCT, MMA is contact and in UFC or K1 the kicks and the punches and moves will hurt him.

least we forget that Kurt Angle is a LEGIT athlete with a background in wrestlin' and submission...I would actually like to see him shed the "Kurt Angle" character and be Kurt Angle the athlete...given a year to properly heal and train I think Angle would/could make a major impact on the MMA world...simply for the fact of the curiosity factor...

yea but still whats the point of leaving wrestling to rehabilitate only to state ,not even a full two months after you left, that you are training for something more physicall than the sport that caused you the pain that you are in now. Ishy is right it's pointless.

And the thing is what he on now pain killers he's using them to help with the pain and you know what you think that if he went to MMA he'd be all well and fine, maybe five years ago or when he debuted in WWE, but now he'd be back on them pain killers within a month.
And then an announcement soon would come Kurt Angle has passed away due to heart failure. Like what happened with Eddie, like what kinda happened with British Bulldog etc.
Angle need to do something in what he wouldn't be threatening his life doing, MMA he would, WWE ECW he would, TNA or ROH would be possiblities and even then there could be arguements to whether he coudl handle that.

contrary to popular belief Angle didn't leave the Evil Empire...he was released due to NOT takin' the time off to properly heal and kick the painkiller addiction...with his release came a no compete clause that many say is in effect until Feb 2007...the man is STILL a COMPETITIVE athlete and such would still like to COMPETE...what better way to severely lighten your workload then by joinin' the MMA world (which he would only do about two or three fights a year) while at the same time commandin' the amount of money he could from Emperor Vince...it's a win/win situation for him...

Well if the fights are less like you say than that is very well and fine, but itall depends on if Angle is bothered about money like many have turned downt o go to TNA. Sting, Christian, Dudleys, James Gang, Rhino etc.
If Angle went to TNA her'd be on a similar deal to sting 250k a year or double that, thats more than average americans that smore than most MMA fighters. Or wrestlers forthat matter.
It depends on how Angle feels, if he's like Christian he'd go to TNA and help make a great promotion, if he goes to MMA fine and i'll say good luck, but theres more chance in MMA he'll die or get seriously hirt or get backon the painkillers than there is wrestling for TNA.

To be honest, both options are equally as hard for him. Sure on one hand he can continue with pro wrestling and it's not as stiff, there is more opportunity for him to incur injury or fall back into old habits. On the other hand with MMA, he will have a much lighter schedule but there's a higher risk of him being injured more severely. A bit of a toss up really. And it also depends who he speaks to, who can get in his ear to sway his decision if he chooses either at all in the end. Even though it could be more risky for him healthwise, I'd prefer to see him in MMA rather than see him in a place like TNA. He deserves more than that after his accomplishments as an olympic and professional wrestler to just end up under a shit like Jarrett.
